Space force

A space force or space army is a military organization that primarily conducts space warfare. Currently, no nation has an independent space force, although from 1992–1997 and 2001–2011 Russia's space forces were an independent organisation. A space force may be a part of the air force.

Space Force

Space Force is a BBC Radio science fiction serial, broadcast from 4 April 1984 to 17 June 1985.

Written by Charles Chilton, it was originally intended to be a sequel to his Journey into Space series (broadcast in the 1950s), using the cast who'd just made a one-off revival of that series ("The Return From Mars"); while this idea was dropped late in the day, the four characters are nevertheless essentially the same as those from the earlier series, albeit with different names.

The first series begins during the northern summer of 2010. Both series seem to initially mirror the first two Journey Into Space stories before branching off into quite different plots. Some of the dialogue in the first episode, "The Voice from Nowhere", references time becoming unstuck and that the year 2010 may now be in the future. This suggests the story was to originally follow the plot of "Operation Luna" more closely before it was changed, and time travel was removed.

A second series, known as Space Force 2, featured the same main characters, once again played by Barry Foster, Nigel Stock, Nicky Henson, and Tony Osoba.

Space Force (Action Force)

Space Force is a fictional space military unit originated and designed by Palitoy as part of the Action Force range of 3 3/4 inch action figures and vehicles; similat to the G.I. Joe action figures and featured in the comic book Battle Action Force.

A space-based unit, the characters and toys were released around the time of the second wave of enthusiasm for space travel and exploration at the start of the shuttle orbiter program (in 1981) during the space-friendly Reagan administration and the Star Wars era. The range was small and limited in scope.

Described in promotional material as:

the unit was introduced as part of the second generation of Action Force (see Action Force – second generation (1983)). In contrast to the First Generation releases and conventional land-based units Z Force and SAS Force, the figures and vehicles had no real-world equivalents or military reference points. Without a practical need for camouflage, the uniforms and equipment of Space Force were coloured in grey, blue and orange with the principal characters dressed in a style typical of late 1970s and early 1980s science fiction television and movies.
